Guido Llordi

“I see the artwork as a situation, not an object.”
Statement
My work is not a static image; it is an active visual system. I investigate how matter and color respond to the two variables most present in nature: light and movement.
I work with hand-built surfaces and textures painted with an airbrush: when painting with air, the volumes catch the pigment the way mountain slopes catch the mist. Several realities coexist in each work and change with the viewing angle. What you see in one moment disappears in the next.
The work acts as a threshold to the elemental, a bridge to primary emotions we thought we had lost growing up. The viewer no longer just looks: they play.
About the artist
Guido Llordi is an Argentine contemporary artist. His practice explores the perception of color, matter and movement within abstraction, with pieces that come alive with light and with the movement of the viewer.
His training is rooted in the workshop and in craft. He grew up in a family close to the arts and, before developing his own work, worked as a maker and fabricator — the source of the technical command with which he now controls air, pigment and texture. Aerocromía, the technique he named and develops, has its origin in the wall textures his grandfather worked with.
His work is built on the tension between chance and control, across painting, sculpture and kinetic series.
